Creation of Adam is a fresco painting by Michelangelo Buonarroti in 1511-1512 on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. It is based on the most exciting part of the biblical story, Scenes from Genesis, and depicts the scene when God created Adam, the first human being in the Bible, and is the fourth of the Genesis paintings.
In Creation of Adam, a white-bearded old man in a flowing robe is on the right side of the painting, while Adam is on the left side, naked. Adam appears to have just awakened from sleep, healthy but lacking in vitality and spirituality, and is looking up at God with his left hand slowly reaching toward Him, like the longing for a soul in Adam's body. Angels in the air surround God, and the red cloak shows the outline of the brain wrapped around God and the angels. God reaches out his hand to Adam, and the infusion of the soul is about to happen in an instant.
There is also a detail in Creation of Adam that the woman under the left arm of God is the only one with eye features depicted. Her eyes are looking at Adam with doubt and curiosity. She is not yet the real Eve, but only the soul of Eve. As we know, Eve was created by God taking Adam's rib, so at this moment, Eve is more of a soul. Maybe when God infused the soul, he also infused this love into Adam's body, so Adam and Eve were born to love each other. They lived a good life together in the Garden of Eden, were tempted to eat the forbidden fruit together, and then expelled from the Garden of Eden, entering the mortal world of birth, old age, sickness, and death.
